Israeli nonprofit that helped reservists get out of debt post-Oct. 7 gets resilience award
One-third of IDF reservists are grappling with debt and financial crisis due to the war, according to Daf Hadash CEO Tomer Rabinowitz.
The Israeli nonprofit Daf Hadash (Fresh Start) received the inaugural Taib Prize for National Resilience, a $50,000 award, at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation in Jaffa. The organization, which provides legal and financial support to help families and businesses overcome debt, shifted its focus post-October 7 to assist IDF reservists and their families who experienced income loss due to extended service. Since October 7, 2023, Daf Hadash has aided approximately 700 reservists and 100 civilians. Tomer Rabinowitz, CEO of Daf Hadash, stated that "one-third of IDF reservists are grappling with debt and financial crisis due to the war." Haim Taib, founder of the Taib Foundation, noted that they sought NGOs that "had proven themselves over the years" to help soldiers.
