Israeli winery CEO, UK kosher wine store vow to weather UK boycott – interview

Following the UK Foreign Secretary's announcement of an import ban on goods from West Bank settlements, Israeli winery CEO Yaakov Berg and UK kosher wine store owner Aaron Schapiro expressed their intent to weather the boycott. Schapiro, of Arele's Kosher Wines, stated that if the ban takes effect, it could lead to a loss of over half his inventory, as many Israeli wines he stocks are from settlement wineries. He also highlighted the difficulty in determining the origin of wines, as some wineries in internationally recognized Israel source grapes from settlements. Berg, CEO of Psagot Winery, the largest settlement winery, acknowledged short-term impacts but asserted, "We really don't care about the boycotts; it's not going to affect us." He views the sanctions as "pure antisemitism" and believes the Jewish people's long history and strength will ensure their continued existence.
