Israel's quantum leap: Building a national hub for the next tech revolution – interview

Israel is establishing a national quantum-computing research and development center to integrate and test various quantum technologies developed by Israeli companies, according to Dror Bin, CEO of the Israel Innovation Authority. This initiative aims to create a shared environment for hardware and software components, fostering the development of a "full stack of a quantum computer based on Israeli technology." Bin emphasized that the goal is not to build a complete national machine immediately, but rather to create an R&D lab for testing and benchmarking components. He noted that Israeli companies are already leaders in certain quantum components, attracting significant private investment. Bin anticipates usable quantum applications before 2030 and also highlighted the potential for regional AI cooperation, leveraging Israel's technological prowess with neighboring countries' land and energy resources. He stressed the importance of regulators keeping pace with rapidly developing technologies like AI and quantum computing to mitigate risks and ensure public safety.
