Jared Kushner says Israel’s ‘crazy election’ is making it ‘a little irrational’ on Gaza

During a visit to Kyiv, Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and adviser, stated that Washington and Israel largely agree on the desired end state in Gaza, but suggested Israel's ongoing election campaign is making it "a little irrational in certain regards." Kushner also highlighted the extensive militarization of Gaza, noting that demilitarizing it "is not going to be easy." He revealed that the Trump administration had been working directly with Hamas for over four months, with Hamas signing an agreement to demilitarize. These efforts are part of Washington's roadmap for Gaza, which includes an Israeli withdrawal, expanded humanitarian aid, and reconstruction. Separately, Ynet reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz are considering a plan for a regional pilot model in Gaza, similar to southern Lebanon, involving international forces to clear areas, establish governance, and prevent Hamas's return.
