Jericho man preaching 'destruction to Zionists', support for Hamas arrested in nightime raid
The suspect is alleged to have operated a number of social media accounts through which he would publish incitement against Israel and the IDF, alongside praise and support for Hamas.
Israel Police, in coordination with the IDF, arrested a 39-year-old suspect in Jericho overnight on Wednesday for allegedly publishing incitement and expressing support for Hamas on social media. The operation involved the Judea and Samaria District's Observation and Intelligence Unit, Border Police, and the IDF's 417th Brigade. The suspect reportedly operated multiple social media accounts, posting content that incited against Israel and the IDF, while praising Hamas. In one post, he allegedly wrote, "God chose the name Hamas for us, and we did not know that its meaning in Hebrew is 'destruction and ruin,' and that it would be destruction and ruin for the Zionist occupiers." He was found hiding near his home and transferred to the Ma'aleh Adumim police station for interrogation. Police stated the suspect is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood in the northern Gaza Strip and linked to Hamas operatives.
