Jerusalem Biennale turns art into catalyst for post-October 7 healing

The seventh Jerusalem Biennale, themed "De Profundis" (From the Depths), opens on Thursday and runs through November 12, aiming to foster healing and resilience in the wake of post-October 7 trauma. This largest edition features over 250 Israeli and international artists across 42 exhibitions at 21 venues city-wide. Founder Rami Ozeri stated that art "creates a passage from the personal and collective subconscious toward expression, connection, and light." Key exhibitions include Yehudit Sasportas's "Mishpat Mokesh" at the Tower of David Museum, and "Open Wound" at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute, exploring the reverberations of October 7. The seven-week program also includes talks, tours, workshops, and performances, encouraging communal engagement and hope.
