Jewish groups launch 'Bill of Rights' to protect students from antisemitism

Five major Jewish organizations, including Jewish Federations of North America and the Anti-Defamation League, launched a “Jewish Students' Bill of Rights” on Wednesday. This initiative urges North American schools to adopt new standards to combat antisemitism and protect Jewish students, following years of elevated antisemitism in educational settings. The document outlines six steps, such as training educators to recognize antisemitism, establishing clear incident reporting systems, and ensuring accurate teaching about Jewish culture, the Holocaust, antisemitism, and Israel. It also calls for protecting students who express their Jewish identity or connection to Israel and for balanced presentations of political issues in classrooms. According to Eric Fingerhut, President and CEO of Jewish Federations of North America, "No child should have to choose between their education and their identity."
