Jewish teacher in Philadelphia pretended to be Palestinian for years

Hannah Gann, a Jewish public school teacher and pro-Palestinian advocate in Philadelphia, has admitted to fabricating Palestinian, Tunisian, and Black heritage for years. Gann, who identified herself as "a white woman with significant privilege and wealth," posted apologies on social media after being confronted by local pro-Palestinian groups she worked with. These groups, Philly Educators for Palestine and Racial Justice Organizing Committee, stated that Gann is "of Jewish heritage and [part of] an Israeli settler family" and accused her of falsely claiming to be Black. Gann confessed, "I hid the truth or outright lied about my background to everyone in my life." Activists also alleged she darkened her skin and adopted a Black American accent. The incident has drawn comparisons to Rachel Dolezal, a white woman who posed as Black.
