Jon Ossoff distances himself from left-wing streamer Hasan Piker, joining several Democrats

Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff has publicly distanced himself from left-wing streamer Hasan Piker, citing Piker's "reckless and dangerous rhetoric" regarding American Jews. This move follows Piker's recent comments on a Twitch livestream on August 20, where he suggested that if American Jews continue to prioritize Israel, "eventually someone's going to come around and take action... against American Jews."

An Ossoff spokesperson stated that he "unreservedly rejects reckless and dangerous rhetoric suggesting that policy advocacy invites violence against the Jewish community or any community."

Ossoff's decision to condemn Piker aligns him with several other Democrats who have criticized the streamer's remarks. The senator's stance comes amid criticism from some within Georgia's Jewish community over his votes to block certain arms sales to Israel. Piker, who had previously expressed intrigue in Ossoff due to his critical stance on aid to Israel, subsequently stated, "I don't like Jon Ossoff," indicating a change in his earlier support.
