Just one in three Americans support Iran war, most unsure of Trump's goals – poll

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates that only one in three Americans support the ongoing war with Iran, marking the lowest approval since the conflict began five months ago. A significant majority, 69% of Americans, including four in 10 Republicans, believe President Donald Trump has not "clearly explained the goals of US military involvement in Iran." Trump's stated objectives have varied, ranging from aiding Iranians to topple their leaders to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales stated that Trump would not base decisions on "fluid opinion polls" and emphasized his commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, adding, "What matters most to the American people is having a commander in chief who takes bold action to keep them safe." The war has seen 18 American soldiers die and has contributed to a sharp increase in gasoline prices, impacting American finances. Public disapproval is weighing on Trump and the Republican Party ahead of the November midterm elections.
