Justice Minister allows Shin Bet to decide on security for party leaders after full panel no-show

Justice Minister Yariv Levin transferred authority to the Shin Bet on Wednesday to determine security arrangements for party leaders not holding official state positions. This decision followed the absence of all other members from the ministerial committee responsible for Shin Bet affairs, which Levin chairs. The committee was scheduled to decide on providing security until the 26th Knesset is sworn in, amid an ongoing dispute over such protections. The issue gained prominence last month when Central Elections Committee chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg requested a discussion on the matter after receiving requests from figures like Yashar party chairman Gadi Eisenkot and Yair Golan. Subsequently, a public committee recommended security for Eisenkot until the elections, a recommendation that was then forwarded to Levin's committee.
