Katz states intent to appoint manpower directorate chief as head of IDF Central Command on live TV

During a live interview on Channel 14's “The Patriots” on Sunday night, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced his intention to appoint Maj.-Gen. Dado Bar Kalifa, the current IDF Manpower Directorate Chief, as the new head of the IDF's Central Command. Katz cited the incumbent's handling of extremist settler violence in the West Bank as the reason for his decision. However, the IDF stated that Katz's announcement was not coordinated with Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, who does not intend to remove the current head. The military emphasized that any such decision would require Zamir's approval in accordance with established protocols.
