Khamenei names new Iran military, IRGC chiefs after commanders killed in Israeli-US strikes

On Monday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei appointed six new military and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officials to leadership roles. These appointments follow the deaths of previous commanders in what were described as Israeli-US strikes during operations "Roaring Lion" and "Epic Fury." Ali Abdollahi was named chief of staff of Iran's Armed Forces, with Kioumars Heydari as his deputy. Ahmad Vahidi became head of the IRGC, and Mostafa Izadi his deputy. Ali Ozmaei was appointed head of the IRGC Navy, and Hossein Taeb commander of the Basij paramilitary. Additionally, Khamenei made two political appointments on Sunday, naming Mohsen Rezaee as his representative on the Supreme National Security Council and Mohammed Bagher Zolghadr as his political advisor; both individuals played key roles in the IRGC's formation.
