Large majority of Israelis fear an October 7-style attack from the West Bank, poll finds

A recent poll by the Jerusalem Center for Foreign Affairs and Security (JCFA) and Lazar Research indicates that 77% of Israelis fear an October 7-style attack originating from the West Bank, with 86% of Jewish Israelis sharing this concern. The study, conducted between September 2 and 4, also found that 67% of all Israelis, including 75% of Jewish Israelis, oppose the establishment of a Palestinian state along the 1967 lines. These findings follow a JCFA warning about the Palestinian Authority's (PA) military buildup, noting that PA security forces exceed Oslo Accords limits by 133%, with over 50,000 armed personnel in the West Bank possessing weapons like RPGs and shoulder-launched missiles. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that if an "October 7-style terrorist attack" is planned by the PA, he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have instructed the IDF to prepare for "an all-out war against senior officials and mechanisms of the [Palestinian] Authority."
