‘Lasting peace, security’: BoP reaches ‘historic’ Hamas disarmament deal, Trump announces

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday night that the Board of Peace (BoP) has reached a “historic” agreement for the “complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza.” Trump stated on Truth Social that this is a “monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY,” and a “critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government.” The agreement will unfold in “carefully structured phases,” with the IDF withdrawing as Hamas disarms. An International Stabilization Force (ISF) will then collaborate with a new Palestinian police force to ensure security. Trump thanked Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for their mediation efforts, emphasizing that “the threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will NOT be allowed to rebuild!”
