Lebanon PM Says Beirut Working for ‘Complete Israeli Withdrawal’

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced on Wednesday that Lebanon is pursuing a "complete Israeli withdrawal" from occupied territories, during a visit to Zawtar al-Gharbiya. This follows a US-sponsored agreement for Israeli withdrawal from "pilot zones" and Lebanese army deployment, though Hezbollah rejects disarming. Salam stated, "We will continue mobilizing our political and diplomatic efforts to secure a complete Israeli withdrawal from the south." The visit occurred a day after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with US President Donald Trump, emphasizing the need for full Israeli withdrawal. Tensions remain high, with Israeli forces firing "warning shots into the air" near Lebanese troops, and the National News Agency reporting Israeli drone attacks and artillery shelling. Additionally, Israeli troops raised an Israeli flag at the historic Dubieh castle, which Lebanon's Culture Minister Ghassan Salame condemned as a "hostile, provocative act."
