Likud Party threatens Central Elections Committee petition over Fly&Vote initiative

The Likud Party is threatening legal action and a petition to the Central Elections Committee against the Fly&Vote initiative, which facilitates travel for Israelis abroad to vote. In a warning letter sent Sunday, Likud, through attorney Ilan Bombach, alleged the initiative violates election laws by providing benefits to voters and attempting to influence their votes. The letter, sent to organizations including the America Israel Democracy (AID) Coalition, demands documents and data related to the initiative's activities within five days and an immediate halt to any activity that could influence the electoral process. Likud claims the initiative operates on a broad scale, potentially engaging in "election bribery" by offering services to influence votes, and alleges it holds a database with voter information and intentions. The party also asserts the initiative is transporting voters outside legal frameworks and discouraging votes for Likud. Likud previously sent a similar request in May, which it claims was not adequately addressed. If demands are not met, Likud intends to petition the Central Elections Committee chairman to order a cessation of activities and reserves the right to pursue further legal proceedings.
