Made in India: Inside the India-Israel weapons alliance Amnesty wants dismantled

A new Amnesty International report, "Made in India: The Supply of Weapons and Ammunition to Israel," alleges that Indian weapons exports to Israel could implicate India in potential violations of international law in Gaza. The report, based on commercially available shipment data from October 7, 2023, to November 30, 2025, identified 2,596 shipments from India to Israel, including components for small arms, explosive ordnance, and military vehicles. Amnesty highlighted specific companies like PLR Systems (a joint venture of India's Adani Group and Israel Weapon Industries), Indo-MIM, Kalyani Strategic Systems, and Munitions India Limited as exporters of military components and finished shells to Israeli entities, including Elbit Systems.

"I have severe reservations regarding the validity of this report," said Dr. Oshrit Birvadker, a senior national security expert. "Even Amnesty acknowledges the limits of its own findings, admitting an inability to verify the end-use of the shipments in question."

Birvadker argues that the report lacks evidence of intent for unlawful operations and that the data primarily demonstrates a legitimate defense partnership. She also noted a strategic shift in the India-Israel defense relationship, with India increasingly manufacturing for Israel and becoming a crucial supply base, a development accelerated by the events of October 7 and subsequent international pressure.
