Maine man found guilty of threatening to kill Jews, public figures online

Thadius Wind, 52, of Eddington, Maine, was convicted by a federal jury on Tuesday for transmitting interstate threatening communications and threatening a former U.S. vice president. Wind was identified by the FBI as the author of threatening posts on X and other social media platforms targeting Jews, law enforcement officers, former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, and Elon Musk. Antisemitic posts between October 7-9, 2024, included calls to "nuke the Jews, literally" and "hunting the Jews time." He also directed a post at Kamala Harris and Donald Trump stating, "You are granted the opportunity and the privilege to come forth and request that I remove your head in order to save your soul." After initially being ruled incompetent, a federal judge found him competent to stand trial in April 2026. Wind faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count; sentencing is pending.
