Massive cyberattack leaks thousands of files from India's largest nuclear plant on dark web

The ransomware group World Leaks has published thousands of files on the dark web, purportedly from India's largest nuclear facility, the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. These files, labeled as originating from Reliance Group, a plant contractor, include alleged blueprints of facility parts, supplier details, meeting records, and equipment reviews. Reliance Group confirmed a "partial breach" of its data on a third-party server and informed the government. Cybersecurity researcher Rakesh Krishnan noted nearly 19,000 files, totaling 14.3 gigabytes, related to the plant have been online since June 11. Nickolas Roth of the Nuclear Threat Initiative stated that the breach could pose a "serious" risk to the plant's safety. This incident highlights increasing cyberattack vulnerabilities in India, with the Kudankulam plant having previously experienced a cyber incident in 2019.
