Meta launches AI agent that can access other apps to send emails, make payments

Meta has launched Muse, an AI agent designed to autonomously manage tasks like sending emails, making payments, and booking travel. This agent, available initially in the US via a dedicated app or WhatsApp, is central to CEO Mark Zuckerberg's strategy to provide "personal superintelligence" and diversify Meta's revenue beyond advertising. While a basic version is free, subscriptions are offered at $20 and $100 per month. Users can opt out of data collection for AI training, and an encrypted version is planned. Vishal Shah, VP of AI products at Meta, stated, "It is impossible to say that there is never going to be a mistake, but every single part of the architecture has been designed to make this as safe, as secure, as private as we can possibly make it." Despite internal concerns and reports of mixed results, including security flaws like exposing personal iCloud photos, Meta delayed the launch to enhance security. The company aims to integrate Muse into its smart glasses soon.
