Milan rabbi attacked by three men while waiting for bus, police arrest one suspect

A 60-year-old Milan rabbi was assaulted by three young men near the city's Jewish quarter on Tuesday while waiting for a bus. The Jewish Community of Milan stated the assailants identified the rabbi by his clothing, surrounded him, cursed him, kicked him, and punched him, also removing and stepping on his hat. The rabbi photographed the suspects, leading to the arrest of a 20-year-old Tunisian man on suspicion of "religiously motivated violence"; two other men, aged 19 and 22, are also suspected. Community president Walker Meghnagi described it as "violence unlike anything we have seen." Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the "cowardly and unacceptable incident," stating, "Antisemitic hatred is a scourge that we cannot and do not want to tolerate." The Israeli Embassy in Rome also commented, noting, "antisemitism in Italy and Europe shows no signs of stopping."
