Ministers said to approve lifetime security detail for Sara Netanyahu

The Ministerial Committee on Shin Bet Affairs has reportedly approved lifetime security coverage for Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and an additional five years of protection for their two sons. This decision, based on a recommendation from Shin Bet chief David Zini, was made regardless of the upcoming October 27 election outcome. The move aims to ensure the family's security even if Netanyahu loses the election, with arguments for extended protection citing the war in Iran and other security developments. However, officials from the National Security Council and Shin Bet were reportedly hesitant, questioning the immediate necessity of such long-term arrangements.

"The attempts to influence the head of the Shin Bet through family members, through people close to his family, commentators, or media mouthpieces — this is a completely insane situation,"

said Yashar party chair Gadi Eisenkot, who also criticized Zini's recent comments about loyalty to elected officials over the state.
