Mohammed Dahlan’s faction seeks to end Palestinian infighting, unifying with Hamas, PIJ, Fatah

Mohammed Dahlan's Fatah Democratic Reform (FDR) faction is advocating for the unification of all Palestinian groups, including Hamas, Fatah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, to prioritize state-building over internal conflict. A vision document shared by Dahlan emphasizes overcoming long-standing divisions, stating, "We may disagree with Hamas, Islamic Jihad, or the leadership of the Palestinian Authority, and there may be deep disagreements between us. But disagreement with someone does not give anyone the right to eliminate the other." The proposal calls for guaranteeing rights, freedoms, and dignity, ensuring public participation in decision-making, and applying accountability and transparency. It also seeks to end armed violence and power struggles, with Dahlan asserting, "The internal fighting was a national crime." Dimitri Diliani, an FDR spokesperson, clarified that while the faction opposes internal violence, it supports Palestinian resistance against Israeli military occupation, viewing all forms of resistance as legitimate under international law.
