More Americans say their sympathies lie with Palestinians than with Israelis—Quinnipiac poll

A recent Quinnipiac University poll indicates a shift in American voter sentiment regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. For the first time since Quinnipiac began tracking the issue in 2001, more registered voters (38%) expressed sympathy for Palestinians than for Israelis (35%). This marks a significant change from a post-October 7, 2023 poll, which showed 61% sympathy for Israelis and 12% for Palestinians. Quinnipiac polling analyst Tim Malloy noted, "Since Oct. 7, 2023, the state of Israel has lost ground in the eyes of American voters, while the Palestinian population has new-found support." The decline in support for Israel is largely attributed to younger voters and a significant lack of support among Democrats, who sided with Palestinians 62% to 13%. Additionally, 48% of registered voters believe the U.S. is too supportive of Israel.
