Most ‘connected’ American Jews favor opposition win in Israel’s October election, survey finds

A recent survey by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI) indicates that 54% of "connected" American Jews prefer Israel's current opposition to win the upcoming October elections. "Connected" Jews are defined as those with strong ties to the Jewish community, Israel, or Jewish identity. Only 14% favored the current coalition, while 24% felt it was not their place to express a preference. Despite only 8% of respondents holding Israeli citizenship, 78% reported following election news closely. JPPI President Prof. Yedidia Stern stated, "The strong interest of American Jews in elections in Israel demonstrates the importance of Israel to them," noting that Israeli actions can influence perceptions of American Jews and that Israel remains central to many American Jews' identity.
