Muslim charity CAIR-NJ's back-to-school guide attributes 9/11 attacks to US support for Israel

The New Jersey branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) released a "Back to School Resource Guide" for 2026-2027, which included a now-deleted document on 9/11. This document, intended for students, attributed the 9/11 attacks to "America's support of Israel, their involvement in the Persian Gulf War, and the vast presence of the US military in the Middle East." While the 9/11 Commission Report identifies these as grievances, it does not state they were the cause of the attacks. The guide also stated, "Terrorism is defined differently by different groups of people," and did not explicitly label 9/11 as an act of terrorism. It further described Osama bin Laden as part of the rebels supported by the US against Soviet invaders in Afghanistan. CAIR National noted that an earlier version of their guide included a link to a primary source document that was removed due to improper vetting.
