National Library of Israel launches memorial book initiative ahead of Oct. 7 anniversary

The National Library of Israel has launched a memorial initiative to collect and preserve books and booklets created in memory of those killed in combat and terror attacks, particularly in the wake of October 7. This effort aims to document the extensive loss experienced by Israeli society, with many memorial works created by families, friends, and communities. The initiative is part of the library's broader October 7 Archive, which collects testimonies and materials related to the events. Beginning October 7, 2026, the library will host a three-month exhibition, "7.10 | Bound in Memory," featuring these publications and a dedicated microsite. The public is encouraged to deposit physical or digital copies of memorial books not yet in the library's collection to ensure their preservation and accessibility for future generations.
