NC Democrats Foushee and Ross vote to cut off aid to Israel

North Carolina Democratic U.S. Representatives Deborah Ross and Valerie Foushee voted on Wednesday to end $3.3 billion in aid to Israel. This vote was on an amendment to a State Department spending bill, proposed by Republican Congressman Thomas Massie, which ultimately failed due to broad Republican opposition. Foushee stated, "Congress has a responsibility to ensure that U.S. taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and that our foreign policy reflects our values, humanitarian standards, and national security interests." Ross explained her vote, saying, "While the Massie amendment was poorly written and overly broad, I voted yes because it sends a message that the status quo cannot persist." She emphasized her continued support for a strong U.S.-Israel alliance and a two-state solution. Other North Carolina Democrats, Alma Adams, voted against the amendment, while Don Davis did not vote.
