Nenshi apologizes for photo with Israeli ambassador at Stampede

Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi apologized for being photographed with Israel’s ambassador to Canada, Iddo Moed, at the Calgary Stampede. Nenshi stated he had a "brief and a frank exchange" with Moed and, after community feedback, understood the "immense hurt that has been caused to a lot of folks." He referenced the conflict in Gaza and Southern Lebanon, noting increased anger and racism. In response, Jewish federations in Calgary and Edmonton criticized Nenshi's apology, calling it a "troubling precedent" that isolates Jewish communities. They emphasized that supporting Palestinian civilians and opposing antisemitism are not mutually exclusive.
