Netanyahu accuses Mamdani of ‘fomenting hate’ by calling for his arrest

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani of “fomenting hate” after Mamdani called for Netanyahu’s arrest as a “war criminal” if he visits New York for the UN General Assembly. Netanyahu stated he intends to attend the UN gathering in September to “speak the truth, speak for Israel and the Israeli-American alliance.” He dismissed the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) war crimes charges against him as “bogus,” pointing to the recent removal of the ICC’s top prosecutor. Mamdani, who acknowledged New York City lacks the legal authority for such an arrest, urged federal authorities to act, stating, “Benjamin Netanyahu is not welcome in New York City.” Former President Trump, however, assured Netanyahu that he “will not be arrested” in the U.S.
