Nick Reiner indicted for stabbing of parents Rob, Michele Reiner, lying in wait for them

Nick Reiner has been indicted by a grand jury for the December stabbing deaths of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and producer Michele Reiner, in their Brentwood home. The indictment, returned on July 20, includes special circumstances of multiple murders, lying in wait, and using a “dangerous and deadly weapon, a knife,” making him eligible for the death penalty. The 32-year-old, who has acknowledged a struggle with substance abuse, pleaded not guilty to the charges. District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated, “We hope that by having a grand jury return an indictment in this case it will bring us one step closer to a trial and achieving justice.” A pre-trial hearing is set for September 15.
