'Not a slip of tongue': Golan says Sara Netanyahu's October 7 comments are part of planned moves

Democrats Party chairman Yair Golan stated on Wednesday that Sara Netanyahu's comments, suggesting he had prior knowledge of the October 7 massacre, were not a "slip of the tongue" but a deliberate effort to discredit him and the government's political opponents. Golan asserted that this strategy, which involves labeling opponents as traitors and inventing conspiracy theories, has been in use since January 2023. He recounted his actions on October 7, explaining he woke early, noticed unusual activity, and by 8:30 a.m. left his home to assist at the Home Front Command headquarters, where he first understood the disaster's scale. A Likud source also indicated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched a campaign to spread October 7 conspiracy theories to distance himself from the massacre. Golan has demanded a formal apology from Sara Netanyahu within 24 hours, threatening a NIS 2.5 million defamation lawsuit.
