NYC DSA leader faces scrutiny over $1.5M home, lapsed union membership

Gustavo Gordillo, co-chair of the NYC Democratic Socialists of America and a vocal critic of Israel, was terminated from an electrical apprenticeship program in March by IBEW Local 3 due to extended absences from required work and classes. The union confirmed that his membership has since lapsed, despite his continued self-identification as a “union electrician” on social media. This development follows scrutiny into Gordillo’s personal finances, including his residence in a $1.5 million Brooklyn townhouse owned by his parents’ LLC. Gordillo has publicly supported Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s opposition to U.S. military aid to Israel, including the Iron Dome, and has echoed the NYC-DSA’s characterization of the Gaza conflict as “genocide.”
