Ofer Winter says new People of Israel party will only back Netanyahu for PM

Brig.-Gen. (res.) Ofer Winter, chairman of the new People of Israel party, announced on Thursday that his party would only recommend Benjamin Netanyahu for prime minister. Winter clarified, "We do not work for any person, only for the people of Israel," but affirmed, "We are in the right-wing camp, the leader of the right-wing camp is Netanyahu, and we will only recommend him." He also stated that haredim would be integrated into the IDF, emphasizing, "with the haredi activists or without them, we will not dance to anyone's tune." Additionally, Winter advocated for voluntary emigration from Gaza and criticized the Public Diplomacy Ministry. Political observers suggest Winter may be seeking the defense minister position, focusing on security and haredi military service, and aims to attract right-wing voters disillusioned with the current government.
