Ofra Yitzhaki talks to ‘Post’ about new albums focusing on monumental musical figures – interview

Internationally acclaimed Israeli pianist Ofra Yitzhaki has released three albums over 18 months, focusing on monumental Israeli composers. The project, which took years to develop, began after Yitzhaki performed Josef Tal's Piano Concerto No. 1 and realized the depth of his overlooked piano music. Her album, "Josef Tal: Piano Works 1936-2000," brings his repertoire to a global audience. Yitzhaki also released "Mordecai Seter: Late Works," capturing his meditative mysticism, and the complete piano works of Josef Bardanashvili, a living composer with whom she collaborated directly. Yitzhaki stated, "My primary drive is simply to record music I believe in deeply, on an artistic level. It just so happens that this superb music is Israeli."
