Oh deer: Border Police rescue a fawn being illegally held for hunting in West Bank, A-Ram

An Israeli gazelle fawn, a protected species, was rescued on Saturday night in the West Bank village of A-Ram during a joint operation. The rescue was conducted by detectives from the Border Police Coast District Central Unit, Judea and Samaria Border Police fighters, and Israel Nature and Parks Authority (INPA) inspectors, following intelligence guidance. A 48-year-old Kafr Aqab resident was detained for questioning on suspicion of illegal trade, possession, and hunting of a protected species. The fawn was transferred to the Wildlife Hospital at the Ramat Gan Safari for treatment. This incident follows a similar rescue on August 12, when Border Police and INPA supervisors rescued another gazelle fawn illegally held in a basement near Jenin, leading to one suspect's detention and expected indictment.
