Oil tanker exploded after colliding with mines in Hormuz, Iran's Fars reports

Iran's IRGC, via Fars news agency, reported that the Panamanian-flagged oil tanker El Gaia exploded and caught fire after hitting mines in the Strait of Hormuz. However, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) denied this, stating the ship was struck by an Iranian missile last month and recently by an Iranian drone. CENTCOM called the IRGC's claim "yet another example of their lies and intimidation attempts." The El Gaia is currently being towed. Reports of an attack on the vessel emerged Sunday, with India's Ministry of External Affairs confirming 13 of 14 Indian crew members were rescued. This incident follows former US President Donald Trump's claim that "All mines have been removed and/or detonated from within the International Waters of the Strait of Hormuz."
