One killed, 17 injured in Berlin Pride event ramming, police suspect known Islamist

One person was killed and 17 injured, with eight seriously and three critically, after a vehicle rammed into the crowd at Berlin's Christopher Street Day Pride event on Saturday night. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the Tiergarten area. Police identified a suspected perpetrator, known to them as a member of Berlin's "Islamist scene," though no arrest has been made yet. The vehicle, described by a witness as a white van, drove into the crowd at high speed before hitting a tree, after which the driver fled on foot. The annual event, one of Europe's largest Pride celebrations, was subsequently canceled.
