‘Our safety net is disappearing’: Former IDF intelligence chief warns US support is collapsing

Former IDF Military Intelligence chief Tamir Hayman warned that American public support for Israel is collapsing, particularly among younger demographics across both Democratic and Republican parties, including evangelical Christians. Speaking at the ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth National Security Conference, Hayman stated, "Our safety net against sanctions is disappearing," attributing this to a decline in public sympathy that historically ensured bipartisan support. He highlighted alarming data, noting that "Among Democrats in that age group [under 50], 86% hold a negative view of Israel." Hayman also discussed the growing challenges from both the American left, influenced by "extreme woke areas," and parts of the right, where "Jews are perceived as a hostile force." He urged Israel to re-engage with American Jews, present a political vision for peace, and not neglect Europe. Regarding Iran, Hayman assessed that Israel would not tolerate Iran crossing a certain nuclear threshold, but dismissed limited military strikes as ineffective.
