'Our special ally': Fetterman says he will leave Democratic Party if it stops supporting Israel

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman stated he would leave the Democratic Party if it adopted a platform opposing U.S. aid to Israel, calling it a "red line." His comments followed a House vote where a measure to end U.S. aid to Israel was defeated, though 103 Democrats supported an amendment to cut off this aid. Fetterman emphasized, "Democrats, we've always should support Israel. That's our special ally, you know? In the only democracy in the entire region, that's Israel." He added that he could not support a party that officially abandoned Israel or failed to condemn groups like Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorists. This issue highlights growing divisions within the Democratic Party, particularly among younger members who show increased sympathy for Palestinians.
