Over 30 startups return to Galilee as new recovery plan takes shape

A new long-term development plan aims to transform the Galilee into a hub for innovation, employment, and community growth, following nearly three years of conflict. Presented in New York by Erel Margalit of Margalit Startup City, the strategy integrates technology, research, advanced agriculture, and local business development. The initiative, which began before the recent conflict, focuses on creating new growth engines and high-quality jobs to encourage people to build their future in the region. Despite wartime disruptions that saw businesses and startups relocate, efforts by Margalit Startup City Galil, the Israel Innovation Authority, MIGAL Galilee Research Institute, Tel-Hai University, and JNF-USA have helped sustain the innovation ecosystem. As a result, 32 startups have returned to the Galilee, with the innovation center supporting over 150 startups, creating more than 50 jobs, and securing approximately $3 million in grants. Dr. Noam Yosef, CEO of Gaia, stated, "Even during the war, we continued supporting companies, raising resources, connecting founders with investors and strategic partners, and opening doors to new markets." The plan also includes strengthening local businesses, expanding educational and leadership programs, and developing cultural institutions like the planned StartArt center, to attract and retain young families and talent.
