Pentagon gives polygraphs to Joint Staff officials in attempt to find munitions info leak – report

The Pentagon has reportedly subjected approximately 50 members of the US military's Joint Staff to polygraph tests. This action follows leaks to journalists concerning the US's diminishing munitions stockpile, particularly in the context of the Iran war, according to The New York Times. Military officers and civilian employees were questioned about disclosing classified information to the press, specifically regarding munitions stocks, including long-range missiles and Patriot interceptors, after reports surfaced in August. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stated that the department "does not comment on internal personnel or investigative matters but takes all leaks of classified national security information extremely seriously and investigates accordingly." Former President Donald Trump had previously expressed frustration over these disclosures, threatening "long-term jail sentences" for those responsible, while also acknowledging that certain munitions were in "tighter" supply.
