Pentagon lists four US troops killed during Iran ceasefire as separate casualties from Epic Fury

The Pentagon has reclassified four US service members killed in Jordan and Iraq in July as "Overseas Operations Casualties," separating them from the 14 casualties listed for Operation Epic Fury. This reclassification follows a report by The New York Times that these four soldiers, including Private Isabella Gonzales and Lt. Tyler James Feehan, had been removed from the Pentagon's casualty website. Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell attributed their initial absence to "a temporary data disruption" on the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) website, stating, "These site anomalies are currently being resolved." Additionally, discrepancies were noted in the number of wounded US soldiers, with 482 initially reported, then reduced to 417, and an additional 207 listed under "Overseas Operations." US defense officials reportedly do not brief on wounded soldiers who are expected to return to duty quickly, or when such information could provide a tactical advantage to adversaries.
