PLC elections should be held after Israeli election results, Palestinian think tank PCPSR says

The Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PCPSR) recommends delaying Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) elections by three to four months, until after Israel's election results are known. This delay would allow time to address five major obstacles to a credible vote. These include Israeli control over Area C and East Jerusalem, the Palestinian Authority's lack of operational security in Gaza and parts of the West Bank, and the unresolved political status of Hamas. Additionally, amendments to electoral law requiring adherence to the PLO risk excluding some movements, and public trust has been eroded by displacement in Gaza and other factors. PCPSR predicts a fragmented parliament, with potential for a strong anti-Abbas coalition centered on Hamas, and notes that Fatah's official faction would struggle to secure a majority without a divided opposition.
