Poll: Shapiro holds double-digit lead over Republican challenger in Pennsylvania governor’s race

A recent Quinnipiac University poll indicates that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, maintains a significant lead over his Republican challenger, State Treasurer Stacy Garrity, in the race for a second term. The survey, conducted from July 9-13 among 895 registered Pennsylvania voters, shows Shapiro leading Garrity 53% to 40%. Shapiro's job approval rating stands at 56%, with a 51% favorable rating. Conversely, 58% of respondents reported not knowing enough about Garrity to form an opinion, a factor highlighted by Quinnipiac polling analyst Tim Malloy, who stated, "Still one of the country's most popular governors, Josh Shapiro benefits by his opponent Stacy Garrity's greatest obstacle: people don’t know much about her." The poll also found Senator John Fetterman's job approval at 48%, with strong Republican support despite some Democratic criticism.
