Rachel Rabin-Yaakov, Yitzhak Rabin's sister, Galilee settlement figure, dies at 101

Rachel Rabin-Yaakov, sister of former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and a prominent figure in Galilee settlement and education, passed away on Friday at 101. Born in Tel Aviv in 1925, she was a co-founder of Kibbutz Manara in 1943 and later helped establish and manage the Emek Hahula regional school, becoming a leading educator in the Upper Galilee. President Isaac Herzog praised her "long and impressive life journey" of educational and public service. After her brother's assassination in 1995, Rachel dedicated herself to preserving his legacy through the Rabin Center, lecturing on tolerance and democratic dialogue. In recent years, Manara suffered severe damage in the northern war, forcing her to relocate, and she never returned to the kibbutz she helped build.
