Re-opening Hormuz dependent on US talks not Oman, IRGC says

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated on Saturday that reopening the Strait of Hormuz is contingent on the US accepting Iran's conditions, not on Iran-Oman negotiations. This statement came after a US official reported progress in talks between Iran and Oman regarding the strait's reopening, which could restore oil exports disrupted by the five-month US war with Iran. IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi clarified, "The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is subject to the specific mechanisms and conditions of the Islamic Republic of Iran and is not related to the negotiations between Iran and Oman." Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also confirmed that Iran and Oman are "very close" to a deal on a temporary shipping route, but with conditions, including compensation for alleged US violations of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.
