Rehovot resident arrested for allegedly operating shell companies, tax fraud, Tax Authority says

Dudu Ohana, a Rehovot resident, was arrested in a Hadera hotel by the Israel Tax Authority on suspicion of operating shell companies and distributing fictitious invoices to commit tax fraud. Investigators from the Beersheba Customs and VAT Investigations Unit, the Tax Authority's Intelligence Unit, and Hadera police located Ohana using advanced technology after he allegedly evaded them for an extended period. During the arrest, computers, mobile phones, and lawyers' stamps suspected of being used for forged documents were seized. Additionally, Ohana's son was previously arrested for allegedly burning documents and stamps and attempting to destroy other evidence at their home. Ohana's detention has been extended until August 13, 2026, as the investigation continues.
