Renowned Israeli filmmaker Avi Nesher's new film to open Haifa International Film Festival
The movie explores the lives of seven characters whose personal crises are overshadowed by October 7, forcing them into a desperate fight for survival and to confront buried truths.
Avi Nesher's new film, Our Loves, will open the 42nd Haifa International Film Festival, running from September 26 to October 3 during Sukkot. Nesher will also receive the festival's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to Israeli cinema. The film, Nesher's 21st feature, is nominated for 12 Ophir Awards and had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Inspired by true events, Our Loves follows seven characters whose lives intertwine after October 6, a day they consider "the day love died," leading to revelations on October 7. Festival artistic director Yaron Shamir stated, "Avi is one of the most consistent, beloved, and highly regarded filmmakers in Israeli cinema across the generations."
